Lets get the WDYWT done and get onto the good bit. The footwear. Well it wasn’t today, I ended up chilling about in baggy joggers attempting to be proactive but procrastination was more the theme of the day. This was a couple of days ago, trying to fit in sometime to write this one hasn’t been the easiest.

SO, new year, new me. Not really. Although I am going to start throwing out why and how I choose some of my outfits. I know look at me go with the masses of Fashion Bloggers, so unique! More sarcastic, but still the same.

I was bought this hoodie for Christmas with a warning “Do not wear this on Christmas Day.  Your grandma will be offended and someone might think you are aiming this towards them”. Sometimes you want to offend some people?

The colour of this was perfect in my opinion, from the preview to wearing, I loved the colour and it had to be partnered with black denim to really give it some real contrast and draw attention the hoodie. To match up the colours, I chose the painted floral camp which has a shade that matches perfectly. You would think they came out in the same season...  I swear I don’t always have a hat on, but mostly I do.

Of course as I have said before the footwear can make or break the outfit. Why ruin your style with some trashed, plimsols from some god forsaken shop that has closed down. We all know those stores. I thought black footwear would go with this perfectly, possibly my Vans X Highs and Lows from SS16. I thought no, lets keep the rest of the outfit bold. Also what better way to get the new footwear out, I made the right choice here I feel.

Hat: Supreme, FW17, Painted floral Camp, Purple.

Hoodie: Supreme FW17, Fuck Em All, Plum.

Jeans: Nudie, Long John, Light Blue.

Shoes: Vans X Take Hayashi X Santa Cruz, Pro Skate ArcAd, Pink.

VANS PRO SKATE ARCAD: TAKA HAYASHI (TH) X SANTA CRUZ

This collaboration is between one of the greatest Vans designers and two powerhouses of the skateboarding world. This was a pair of kicks I was sadly letting pass me by. Knowing that these would be added to the list of ones that I wished I copped. Sadly we can’t have them all, well some people can and do. Me? I damn well try my best.

These were a gift and a perfect gift they were!

Santa Cruz to this day remain a true powerhouse of skate. They have created some of the most treasured graphics in the skate world since the 80’s. With the bold slogan “Skateboarding Is Not A Crime”, sitting proudly on the side and embossed on the sidestripe, these stay true to the roots of Santa Cruz.

Featuring boldly on the back is the original skull artwork by TH. Both Santa Cruz and Taka have detailed tongues dedicated with their names and logo. The detail and time gone into these should make every vans collector jump to get a pair. If you missed the drop, I have seen a few change hands online, make sure you add this collaboration between two powerhouses and TH to your collection!

As you can tell I managed to stop some of the procrastination today and finally get this done!

Escape to the country, kind of.

I lived in a village, in the country last year and I saw a whole LOAD of tractors. What do farmers use to make crop circles? A Protractor!

I have lived at the coast, in a big city and now the country (this was the middle of nowhere I tell you!) but I can safely say it’s the company that makes the place.

Yet it was scenic, so very scenic.

In Summer, I attended open gardens. You walk into a garden, you see how they’ve decorated, you leave. Very British, very civilised, very awkward and a lot of Koi Carp.

In Autumn, I got creative.

No one ever answered my question… Can you? If a cow laughs hard enough, does milk come out their nose? OKAY, OKAY, no more bad jokes, for this post at least.

In Winter, well the place looked like a Christmas Card.

“have i gone mad?
i’m afraid so, but let me tell you something, the best people usually are.”
― Lewis Carroll, Alice in Wonderland
This project was all about falling into what you see, looking through the looking glass and when you do, just loosing yourself for a moment or two before reality snaps back in.

Mexican Lucky, at these places I truly was.

Sometimes a warped reality is the best reality.
Once, this image won an award. Forever proud to have a photography award to my name. This was the photograph.

East End Markets (2014 – 2015)

I had love for the East end of London, I would pick up a camera and spend my Sundays walking and photographing. This became tradition, I never experienced this with anyone but myself. Give me a Sunday walk through the market, let me smell those smells, see those sights.

I became obsessed with photographing what I saw, below is a selection of some of the beauty I witnessed in that time. This was the start of my obsession with the passing seconds in life, grabbing the limited editions and treasuring those fleeting moments.

Why black and white? Why would I show you the colour? Ask yourself that, imagine the colour, the smells. Take the coffee stand for instance, imagine the rich cream and browns on the van. Smell that freshly brewed coffee and the BBQ just down the road, just as I did that day, while sitting on the curb.

Search yourself and fill the details as I do when I look and reminisce over the simple joys of walking through a market taking in every sight and smell.

This body of work was shot over the space of a year and a half, with many lost negatives, shots I was hopeful for which came out utter rubbish. For the 2 digital, to one colour negative I was grateful for the addition, but this collections beauty comes from shooting a camera no longer in my arsenal. My Bronica 6×6 (I hope to own one of these again one day, I miss my old 6×6 format), created this body of work which remains strong. Square format is not dead, film is not dead, photography is not dead.

Never stop shooting. Take a photo of today it will fascinate someone in 50 years when the world no longer looks this way.

Alone

I love photography. It has been a passion for around a decade now, it has become so fundamental to my life and at times in my youth unsure on what direction my life was taking I knew that somewhat photography would always play a vital part.

Using the cliché terms, photography has always been my creative outlet. In terms of this blog I will be building up a lot of product photography (hey, photographing my favourite trainers is a great pastime) but I also have a creative side, where I can express myself.

This project was one of those self explorative, expressive yet self indulgent projects. I moved from Newcastle Upon Tyne which is renowned for the overly friendly nature to ‘The Big Smoke’. I moved to London renowned for the fast paced and unfriendly atmosphere. Yet I loved it. The bright lights of Soho, the hussle and bussle of Carnaby Street, I was where I needed to be. I have gone back many times since leaving and always come back saying, “I could live there again”. If I ever do is another question, I am settled.

The photography within this project stemmed from a line in a song. Jack’s Mannequin – Dark Blue, listen here. The line: Have you ever been alone in a crowded room. It was the realisation that I knew no one and it was a chance to start a fresh, yet I was alone in a crowded city. It’s human to feel alone.

LEADERALONE3.jpg

The aim of this project wasn’t to show London in a bad light, I loved the city and the experiences around me. It was aimed to show signs of a busy life around an individual.

Does anyone image what life is unfolding outside of the room they occupy? I feel the answer is no. Until you are in a room you can’t leave.

When you drive a motorway or highway and imagine that thousands of other lives and stories are going on around you? Life exists underneath.

T-Shirt: Supreme Lace L/S Top, Burgundy.

What Did You Wear Today?

Taken briefly before my near dip in a pond.

Hat: Supreme X M.C. Escher, Camp, Black.

Top: Patta, LS College tee, White/Purple.

JeansAgain… Black Long Johns, Nudie.

Jacket: Alpha Industries Bomber/Flight Jacket, Cream.

Footwear: Supreme X Vans, Motion Logo, Blue.

One of the best hats in my collection is my Supreme X M.C. Escher.

M.C. Escher is a dutch graphic artist. Famed for his so-called impossible constructions, these are enjoyed by people world wide to this day. He has and is continuing to influence artists, you can’t help but look at his work and follow the path, never reaching a true conclusion on your journey.

Anyone else look at these and wonder whats more impossible, your own life or these constructions?

Vans X Brain Dead

When you gifted some real FIRE.

Vans X Brain Dead. These two Iconic brands collaborated on a capsule collection built up of 2 Shirts, 2 T-shirts, a hat, a bag and 3 pairs of trainers.

The Pink pair are already a staple in both mine and my girlfriends wardrobe, although we don’t allow each other to rock at the same time. I say WE but anyone will know that they listen to this boss. #AfterAnEasyLife

Vans X Brain Dead Pink Era LX

Vans x Brain Dead Old Skool LX

“Brain Dead is a creative collective of artists and designers from around the world. With its disruptive, graphic-led approach, the brand takes its cues from post punk, underground comics, skateboarding, and the spirit of subculture as a whole. Brain Dead is not one person, nor is it one idea. It sits in the space between people.”

Brain Dead to me stand for the different the idea that sitting outside of societies norms is fine, after all who wants to sit in the norm?

From the offset, the box makes these a stand out pair in my collection, who doesn’t love an exciting box to stand out in the footwear collection. The graphics scream Brain Dead the punk, skate aesthetic of the graphics embody destruction and individuality.

Combine these asthetics on a pair of Old Skool’s, lose the stripe across the side and give a pastel tone and Vans X Brain Dead have created possibly my favourite capsule of footwear. With two of three hitting the shelves in my collection, definitely think the yellow slip ons might have to be tracked down.

Being a Geordie, having a shop like END in Newcastle Upon Tyne is nothing short of amazing. Usually these stores are London based, Footpatrol kicking about the East End. SO being able to cop fire in person like this is something that I don’t take for granted. Only wish when I lived in London I had the funds to allow me to cop all the ‘Preme and Palace in person.

This season pastel colours are in, and they are in BIG, vans are getting in on this with these exclusive colour ways. I think my collection may need 3 of 3…

Week one finally arrived.

SO FINALLY, my week one cops arrived. Once again the size of week one was something else. Always a large drop, always too much I want. I copped all I wanted (taking a massive L on the Nas Tee, but we can just ignore my BIG L).

What did I actually cop then?

#shovellingshit #cleanteethgang

SHOVEL

Time to start digging.

SO who is part of the clean teeth gang? Following up last years incense matches, this years free gift of a Toothbrush had all the Hypebeasts talking. Could hear the murmurs in LDN about how fresh Pete’s breath was after getting a new brush.

Did anyone anyone else cop the shovel? I certainly dug myself a hole with the other half after that landed on the door step. How could I resist this though, absolute FIRE.

Michel who?

MICLAGLO

Michelangelo, who else. Anyone remotely into art knows this name, even if you don’t you would recognise his naked David (Cheeky, depending on angle). This year supreme have brought his art to a LS Top, burgundy was fire from the offset and this piece was a must in my collection. The fit is nothing short of perfect, baggy in all the right places and a LS Tee with loose fitting wrist. This piece is 100% my piece of the week.

Made Possible With Your Support. The Venus tee was teased before the season even started, slight change to the bank print on actual drop. Always a sucker for a front and back print, nothing wrong with being the person who takes their jacket off cause the back print is too good to hide.

Pack your bags.

BAGS

Does anyone remember those HEAD Sports Bags? I remember members of my family carrying so much trash around in those, these feel like a throwback to them. The way SUPREME is wrote across the top, all the way down to the material used. This has sat now for 3 weeks in the black why I don’t know. cause Supreme threw a curveball with something different. Keep an eye out for posts to come and you will get to know I look to be different while everything now is mainstream. I’ve seen people say it’s like a bin bag, personally I love these new bags. I did always rock bin bags as a kid at halloween and was always the freshest bin bag monster on the block. #TheFoxHuntersPub #HalloweenChampOf1999

Did you even start the season if you didn’t get some new headwear?

Mandatory hat. If I’m out of work you will find me with a hat on my head turned backwards and most likely Vans on my feet. Pink Camo? Yeah, sorry no way I was holding back on this LIT piece. The wardrobe will feature the single block colours, but once you’ve built your base it is time to push the boundaries, get some wavy patterns and snazzy garms. This hat combined with Vans Vault X Brain Dead Era LX or Vans X Stussy Chukka Boots in Pink make for more Iconic Duos than Kanye West and Taylor Swift . . . Wait, what? #shovellingsomeshit
